Class Descriptions for AYPC Classes: 

All Levels Yoga:   A well-rounded practice which incorporates asana (postures), breathwork, concentration and relaxation. Alignment, proper breathing and awareness are emphasized. Level:  All Levels

BENDER BALL:   The Bender Ball is a little ball that will generate four times the work in an abdominal crunch, per second of exercise. Each exercise done with this little ball has been analyzed and designed to be functionally safe for today's general population. This ball has been researched and recorded with the Journal of Applied Research. The ball is also available for sale at our AYPC store. You'll be surprised by all those abdominal muscles hiding out! GENTLE YOGA:   This class is designed to revitalize your body, relax your mind, increase energy, and reduce stress. For beginners, or experienced students who want a slower paced, less strenuous class. Level: All Levels

GENTLE YOGA & PILATES:   Gentle yoga, integrated with some pilates for beginners    Level:  All Levels

Intro to Pilates (monthly workshop OR 6 week session, Registration Required):**
This class is recommended for people new to Pilates.  Learn the exercises developed by Joseph H. Pilates in the 1920's to build strength, increase flexibility, coordination, control, range of motion, alignment, and breathing. This series will demonstrate Pilates exercises that can be modified to suit any person, of any age or fitness level.  Level:  Beginner/Intermediate

Intro to POWER Yoga (6 week session, Registration Required):**
For students looking to build a vinyasa style yoga practice. Break down the poses for deeper understanding and proper alignment.  Each class will build on to the previous one; to build stamina, knowledge and precision in poses.  This class is practiced in a warm room.  Level: Beginner, Intermediate

Intro to Yoga (6 week session, Registration Required):**
Introduction to the fundamentals of yoga will each you correct alignment, breathing, and relaxation techniques. Increase flexibility as you strengthen, tone, and revitalize your body. Perfect for students new to yoga, and those wanting to reacquaint themselves with the basics.  Level: Beginner

Intro to Yoga AND PILATES (6 wk session, Registration Required):**
Not sure if you would enjoy yoga or pilates? Try this combination of intro to yoga and intro to pilates.  Perfect for
those new to yoga or pilates or those revisiting yoga or pilates for the first time in awhile.  Level:  Beginner/Intermediate

KIDS/FAMILY YOGA(6 week session, Registration Required):**
Children will be guided through age appropriate postures of yoga, elements of movement and meditation, while being encouraged and supported to express their individuality through a growing awareness of their bodies and minds.  Geared towards children from 7-11.  (Parent participation is encouraged and at no additional cost.)  Level:  All Levels

Level 1 SPINNING: The foundation course for those wanting to learn more about spin. You will be taught the fundamental technique, form, and terminology  of Spinning. Your class will follow a similar format to our other Spin classes, but at a lower intensity. This class is recommended for any person who wishes to ride at a lower intensity.  Level:  Beginner

Mommy & Me Pilates: (6 week session, Registration Required):**
This class welcomes new moms and babies. (Appropriate for babies from birth to walkers.  Once the babies are walking, they should join the mommy & toddler classes.)   Pilates will help new mothers rejuvenate and tone their post pregnancy bodies. Moms will learn fundamental Pilates exercises that gently restore core strength, pelvic floor, postural alignment and balance. A great way to interact with other new moms and babies.  Level:  All Levels

Mommy & Toddler Yoga (6 week session, Registration Required):**
This class for walkers to children up to four years old and their mothers. The yoga taught in these classes is more active than the postnatal classes but still a blend of yoga with your young one.  Level: All Levels

Pilates MAT:  Recommended for persons who are ready to move beyond beginner pilates into this more challenging class.  (It is strongly recommended that participants have prior pilates experience before taking this class.   New participants should first take the Intro to Pilates workshop or the intro to yoga and pilates class.)  The result will be a smoothly flowing workout that will increasingly challenge concentration, control and stamina.  Use different pieces of equipment each week (ie. Stability ball, weighted balls, pilates ring, resistance tubing,  gliding discs,  bosus, therabands, etc.) to add increased resistance.  Level: Intermediate, Advanced

PRE-NATAL PILATES (6 week session, Registration Required):**
Many women find Pilates to be one of best exercises to do, both during and after their pregnancy. One the top reasons Pilates and pregnancy go together so well is that Pilates is great at building core strength. If your abdominals, back, and pelvic floor/Kegel muscles are toned, they will support a more comfortable pregnancy and delivery. Another great reason to do Pilates in pregnancy is that Pilates is very adaptable. Most Pilates exercises can be modified as your body and abilities change.

Pre-Natal Yoga (6 week session, Registration Required):**
This class is appropriate for expectant mothers 12-40 weeks along. It is a taught in a gentle Hatha style yoga. It will focus on proper alignment and improved flexibility during this time when your body is changing so rapidly. It gives expectant mothers the opportunity to learn basic yoga postures, breathing and visualization techniques to help cope with pregnancy, labor and birth. Level:  All Levels
 

Power Yoga:  During this class, participants will move from pose to pose while focusing on breath and alignment. It is a mind-body workout designed to improve strength, improve flexibility and provide stress relief. This class is practiced in a warm room and is not recommended for the beginning student, as these classes require and/or build strength and stamina. Level: Intermediate, Advanced 

SilverSneakerS-MSROM: A variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living for senior citizens.  Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, a SilverSneakersĀ® ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support. Level:  All Levels 

Slow Flow YOGA:  A hatha yoga practice of flowing postures to awaken self-awareness of the body through a gentle, but deep approach to yoga. It is a dynamic, flowing yoga that connects movements with breath through a series of postures that will strengthen, increase flexibility and build endurance.  Level:  All Levels  

Spinning:  A group exercise workout performed on a stationary bike. The class offers the latest cardio workout combined with great music and plenty of motivation.  Each bike is equipped with its own resistance control so each participant can select their own level of intensity.  (If you wish to attend a spin class, it is recommended that you reserve a bike through the link at auburnyogaandpilates.com)  Level:  All Levels 

SPINNING: Level 1:   Please see "Level 1 Spinning"

Spin with Strength:  35 minute spin class followed by strength training, with focus on core stability strength, upper body strengthening, and functional balance. Take your training to the next level and maximize your functional strength.  (If you wish to attend a spin class, it is recommended that you reserve a bike through the link at auburnyogaandpilates.com.)  Level:   All Levels  

Strength and Conditioning:  This class is designed to increase physical strength through weight-bearing and resistance exercise. All major muscle groups will be worked using a variety of tools and exercises.  Level:  All Levels  

Yochi:  A comfortable fusion of yoga and tai chi. A user friendly designed class that promotes flexibility, strength, and balance while relaxing your mind and soothing your spirit. Level: All Levels 

Yoga for Seniors:  Come and rejuvenate your body with gentle yoga adapted especially for seniors. This breath oriented practice will help to increase your circulation, release tense muscles, tone and renew your energy. An excellent way to keep both mind and body, healthy and strong! Level:  All Levels

YogAlates:  A class that combines yoga and pilates poses and flows. Great for those familiar with yoga, but not with pilates - or vice versa! This is a wonderful place to transition from yoga to pilates or pilates to yoga!  Level:  All Levels
